Johannesburg - SABC Acting Chief Executive Officer, Jimi Matthews, has dropped a bombshell by posting his resignation letter on Twitter.
Matthews appeared to be reacting to the recent upheaval at the national broadcaster, which has seen three senior producers suspended, after falling foul of COO, Hlaudi Motsoeneng.
The three violated Motsoeneng's ban on the covering of protests against his allegedly ANC-biased decisions.
The state broadcaster has also recently banned the reading of newspaper headlines on air, and according to insiders, any negative reporting on President Jacob Zuma is also prohibited.
Matthews says in his resignation that what is happening at the SABC is wrong, and he can no longer live with it. He apologises to those he has let down.
