Helen Suzman Foundation in court to challenge SABC censorship policy─── 07:49 Wed, 20 Jul 2016
Pretoria - The High Court in Pretoria is expected to hear an application by the Helen Suzman Foundation today to stop the SABC from implementing its decision to censor the reporting of protests.
The application is against the SABC, its board, COO Hlaudi Motsoeneng and Communications Minister Faith Muthambi.
Last week Monday Icasa ordered the SABC to withdraw its decision not to air footage of the destruction of property during protests.
The broadcasting regulator held a public hearing on June 24 following complaints about censorship at the SABC. However, Motsoeneng and his board vowed that they would challenge Icasa's decision.
