Their lawyer, Annelene van den Heever, wanted the prosecuting team to disclose documents which had led to them amending the charge sheet.

Van den Heever said she needed access to the documents in order to "determine what the charges are", as this could assist her in presenting their bail application.

Magistrate Pieter du Plessis said he did not have the powers to compel the State to hand over the documents.

"The State has no onus or obligation to disclose the documents," said Du Plessis, suggesting that the charge sheet was sufficient.

He instructed Van den Heever to rather present arguments on why the two deserved to be granted bail.

The Thulsie brothers are charged with a schedule six offence.

The last charge sheet documented that the brothers faced three counts of contravening the Protection of Constitutional Democracy against Terrorist and Related Activities Act.

The curly-haired Thulsie brother's, both wearing big glasses, sat close to each other in the dock.

Security was once again tight ahead of the proceedings. Heavily armed police officers stood in the passage outside the courtroom. The passage was cordoned off with red and white tape.

Journalists were required to register their names and produce their identity documents and press cards before being permitted into the court.

The mother of the twins sobbed as the pair were escorted back to the court's holding cells.

She cupped her hands around her mouth and used a tissue to wipe her eyes as she was consoled by relatives.

The bail application was postponed to Tuesday for Van den Heever to obtain further instructions.
