Guptas respond to Gordhan allegations─── 12:07 Sat, 27 Aug 2016
The Gupta family has responded to allegations made in the media that they might be behind the Hawks' investigation of Finance Minister, Pravin Gordhan, by saying that they are happy to deal with any and all allegations made against them.
In a statement released this morning, Gupta family spokesperson, Gary Naidoo, said the family has been a victim of a political campaign and that no charge has ever been brought against them.
The Guptas remain fully committed as shareholders to ensuring that their businesses are run on sound business lines with all transactions being done on a transparent, arms-length basis.
Meanwhile, Treasury has declined to comment on the reports. Treasury spokesperson, Phumza Macanda, has referred the media to a media statement released on Wednesday.
In it the Treasury confirmed that the Hawks had summoned Gordhan regarding a so-called rogue unite at Sars. Gordhan refused to present himself to the police unit.
