Announcement on Ford Kuga utility vehicle expected today─── 10:28 Mon, 16 Jan 2017
Johannesburg - The National Consumer Commission (NCC) and Ford Motor Company South Africa will today announce the way forward with regard to the Ford Kuga utility vehicle.
This follows reports that at least 47 of the vehicles had caught alight. One incident in the Wilderness in December 2015 resulted in the death of Kershal Jimmy.
The Consumer Commission's Trevor Hattingh says the NCC met a high-level international Ford delegation in December and was briefed on the investigations and preliminary findings. He said the Ford delegation insisted that it had put precautionary measures in place while expediting the investigation into the issue.
However, Hattingh says since the first meeting more reports of cars catching alight were reported.
