Bloemfontein - The Facebook aid group “Boere In Nood” says it is here to stay and will in future be positioned to provide aid to any farmers, anywhere in the country, who are faced with emergencies.

Co-founder of the group, Nico Gerber, says Boere In Nood has now been registered as a Non-Profit Organisation and adds that they won’t stop helping once the drought comes to an end.

Their efforts will also be further bolstered by a recently announced collaboration with the Transvaal Agricultural Union.

The organisation has transported thousands of tons of feed to desperate farmers across the country since being established late last year. Gerber says he is personally busy baling more fodder at his farm in George in the Western Cape.

Meanwhile huge truckloads of feed continue to move to hard-hit areas on a daily basis.

Gerber says they plan to keep the charity action in operation in future so that they can aid farmers in emergencies ranging from droughts and floods to fires, disease outbreaks and so forth.
