Final preparations for Nampo in full swing─── SABRINA DEAN 18:43 Fri, 06 May 2016
Bothaville - Nampo Park near Bothaville is a hive of activity as organisers and exhibitors start putting on the finishing touches ahead of the 50th Nampo Harvest Day from May 17 to 20.
Nampo Committee Chairperson, Cobus van Coller, says large equipment has started arriving and many exhibitors are already on site busy tweaking their stands. He says it is a huge privilege to be part of the biggest agricultural showcase in the Southern Hemisphere.
“It first started in 1967 and 1968 where it was held at different venues. There was one near Bloemfontein and then it was even presented out in Mpumulanga one year before being presented here at Nampo itself, on the farm, in 1973.
“Gradually over the years more buildings were put up and infrastructure was added. It started taking shape and this year is the fiftieth time we will present it. So we are very excited about what’s happening here this year.”
