Bloemfontein - The three finalists in this year’s Free State Agriculture (FSA) Young Farmer of the Year competition are not making work easy for the judges.

The competition is being presented for the 21st time this year. Finalists are Willie Stols from the farm Gelykvlakte in the Vierfontein area; Johan van Huyssteen from the farm Bloekom in the Virginia area; and Herman Archer from the farm Settlement in the Trompsburg area.

An official at FSA told OFM News it was clear that the judges were having a very hard time coming to a decision following last week’s farm visits.

The winner will be announced during a gala dinner on April 6 following the organisation’s annual Young Farmer Conference in Bloemfontein on that day. The theme this year is “The young farmer in the global market”.

FSA’s Young Farmer Committee will also celebrate its 32nd year in existence during the conference.
