New world record set for human floating | News Article

A new world record has been set for human floating by almost 2,000 people in Argentina.

Skynews reports some 1,941 people joined hands and floated on the salty waters of Lake Epecuen, in the Buenos Aires province, to set a new Guinness world record.

A video distributed by local authorities earlier this week shows huge crowds gathering at the edge of the lake before entering the water.

The participants then join hands and float simultaneously for 30 seconds. The Guinness Book of Records certified that the stunt easily qualified for new world record status, smashing the record previously set in Sun Moon Lake, Taiwan, in 2014.

On that occasion, 650 people joined hands and used flotation aids to stay buoyant.

This time around, the salt content of the lake meant no such paraphernalia was necessary.
