Peterhansel dominates Dakar 4th stage─── 10:58 Thu, 07 Jan 2016
Eleven-time champion, Stephane Peterhansel, was in dominant form during the fourth stage of the 2016 Dakar Rally taking place in Argentina and Bolivia.
The marathon event's all-time most successful competitor held off teammates Carlos Sainz and Sebastien Loeb by 11 seconds and 27 seconds at the end of the 429 kilometre stage.
Nine-time World rally champion and Loeb, with two stage wins in the bag already on his Dakar debut, remained atop the overall standings with Peterhansel replacing South Africa’s Giniel de Villiers in second.
De Villiers dropped all the way down to sixth, while his fellow South African’s Leeroy Poulter and Robert Howie made a big move up into fourth overall.
Today’s fifth stage, while it is also the second leg of the marathon event, runs for 327 km’s from Jujuy to Uyuni.
