Bruno to mount an unlikely comeback | News Article
Frank Bruno - Rob Casey

Former world heavyweight boxing champion, Frank Bruno, has set his sights on a possible return to the ring… at the ripe old age of 54 years.

Bruno became the WBC heavyweight champion in 1995 after beating Oliver McCall, however, hasn’t fought since 1996 when he lost the title to Iron Mike Tyson by virtue of a third round technical knockout.

In an interview with ITV, Bruno said he wanted to mount an unlikely comeback to help cope with the effects of the medication he takes for bipolar disorder.

He added that he has no choice but to make a comeback.

"They made me suicidal - mess up your head, mess up your clock - you can't sleep.

"I'm walking around break-dancing, I've got so much energy.

"I feel like superman, I'm going to the gym all the time, working hard - that's why I've got to come into boxing... to get this out of my system."

Bruno’s return to the ring may have to be put on ice for the time being after he was told that his application for a licence would be declined.
