The entries for the 2017 Comrades Marathon have officially been closed.
The Comrades Marathon Association confirmed that the 20 000 cap was reached today, ending all entries.
The 92nd edition of South Africa’s most iconic road-running event is a so-called up-run from Durban to Pietermaritzburg.
The 47th up-run will start at the Durban City Hall on 4 June and finish at the Scottsville Racecourse in Pietermaritzburg.
Gift Kelehe and Caroline Wostmann, both of South Africa, are the defending up-run champions.
David Gatebe broke the men’s down-run record this year winning the race in 05:18:12, while Charné Bosman won the women’s race in 06:26:10.
