Cheetahs suffer Mohoje blow | News Article

The Toyota Cheetahs have been dealt a big blow ahead of 2016’s Super Rugby.

Springbok and Cheetahs loose forward, Oupa Mohoje, will miss the start of the Super Rugby campaign due to an injury.

Mohoje has been ruled out for at least three months with a knee injury.

The player has been in Stellenbosch with the Springbok Sevens camp preparing for the 2015/16 HSBC Sevens World Series.

Mohaje fell badly in one of the warm-up matches before coach Neill Powell named his squad for the first leg in Dubai and the second leg in Cape Town.

Luckily for Franco Smith he has more than enough depth in the loosie department with Tienie Burger, Willie Britz, Niell Jordaan, Hilton Lobberts, Uzair Cassiem, Gerhard Olivier, Boom Prinsloo and Henco Venter, however, the injury still comes as a big blow.

Meanwhile, captain Francois Uys has jetted off to Japan where he will be playing for Toyota Verblitz in the Japanese Top League.

The Cheetahs open their 2016 Super Rugby campaign on 27 February against the “Los Jaguars” in Bloemfontein.
