The Toyota Cheetahs are out to prove a point when they tackle the Western Force in the first of their three remaining matches in the Super Rugby series.

The Cheetahs have won just three of their 12 matches in the competition thus far, but want to cap off their campaign on a high note.

Although the Cheetahs lost 31-24 to the Stormers in their previous match a month ago, the captain, Francois Venter, told OFM Sport that they do take a lot of confidence out of the defeat in the Cape.

“We want to win, we go out to win in every match,” said Venter.

“I think we had a good end although it wasn’t a win against the Stormers at Newlands, so we’re taking nice confidence from that game, albeit it a few weeks ago.

“As you say the Force will be a tricky game, but hopefully we will take confidence into the match and get a win.”

The Springbok lock, Lood de Jager, is not available for the match due to a calf injury he sustained during the first Test against Ireland at Newlands.

Venter, Oupa Mohoje and Sergeal Petersen were involved in the South Africa A series against the England Saxons, and the skipper added that he cannot wait to see the exciting Petersen in action again.

“Just to take that experience over into Super Rugby will be good,” Venter added.

“It’s nice to play with the guys you normally play with, I’m actually looking forward to seeing Sergeal playing again. He always excites me.”

Saturday afternoon’s clash between the Cheetahs and the Force at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein kicks off at 15:00.
