The Southern Kings flank, Thembelami Bholi, has signed with the Toyota Free State Cheetahs for the 2016 and 2017 Currie Cup seasons.

The player will, however, still be playing his Super Rugby at the Kings in 2017.

The 25-year-old loose forward injured his knee against the Crusaders and is expected to take to the field again in the first week of September.

Bholi is considered to be a suitable replacement for Willie Britz who is off to the Japanese club, Shining Arcs, again at the conclusion of the Super Rugby series.

The Cheetahs are in action again this week when they lock horns with the Western Force.

The injury bug will leave coach Franco Smith with a lot to think about ahead of the team announcement tomorrow.

While the Force are without a head coach at the moment and won just two games, the Cheetahs flank, Tier Schoeman, told OFM Sport that they cannot underestimate the side from Perth.

“The break has done us well. The guys are looking fresh and there is a new vibe among the players and they look as if they want to play rugby again.

“We’re looking forward to the game which is a must-win game for us.

“We’re not going to underestimate the force even though they have problems in their camp.

“We want to bring our A-game and won’t settle for anything less than our best.”

Saturday afternoon’s clash between the Cheetahs and the Force at the Toyota Stadium kicks off at 15:00.
