The Springbok flank, Oupa Mohoje, will captain the Toyota Cheetahs on Saturday when they run out against the Bulls in the Super Rugby.

The team’s regular captain, Francois Venter, has been ruled out of the clash due to concussion and he will also be missing the team’s trip to Japan next week to face Toyota Verblitz in a friendly match.

William Small-Smith gets a start at outside centre and he will also be the teams’ vice-captain. Michael van der Spuy will once again run out at outside centre and this allows for Rayno Benjamin to come onto the bench and make his long awaited return from injury.

Upfront the impressive Ox Nche drops back to the bench and Charles Marais will start at loosehead prop with Torsten van Jaarsveld and Maks van Dyk completing the front-row.

In the second-row Armandt Koster gets a start alongside the Francois Uys who will be playing his last match before heading over to Japan to play for the Yokogawa Musashino Atlastars in Tokyo for the next six months.

Mohoje, Uzair Cassiem and Tier Schoeman form the formidable backrow.

The only change among that backs is that of Small-Smith replacing the injured Venter.

Mohoje is now officially the Cheetahs first captain of colour, although he has lead the side before in the Currie Cup last year.

The South African A captain, Mohoje, told OFM Sport that he is excited to play against the former Cheetahs man, Adriaan Straus, who is also the current Springbok captain.

Mohoje said he is excited to test his leadership abilities against the player he has always looked up to.

“I remember when I first got here, Adriaan Strauss, was the captain and I’ve always looked up to the way he leads and the way he does his things. The way he handles his players I’ve always, always looked up to him.

“To be facing him as a captain is kind of great but I really can’t wait for the challenge as well.”

Saturday evenings clash between the Cheetahs and the Bulls at the Toyota Stadium kicks off at 19:15.
