The two teams go head-to-head in the derby with the Cheetahs already having secured a home semi-final while the Griquas still and a mathematical changes of sneaking into the play-offs.

The Peacock Blues need a convincing win over the Cheetahs, the Golden Lions and Sharks need to play to a draw and the Boland Cavaliers need to upset Western Province in Cape Town.

There’s however a change that RJ Liebenberg and Alshaun Bock could make their return from injury.

The Griquas captain, AJ Coertzen, told OFM Sport that for them there is a lot pride at stake.

“It’s a huge game for us this weekend against the Cheetahs,” said Coertzen about the derby against his former team.

“Mathematically there is still a change for us to make the semi-final but we don’t want to rely on other teams results.

“We just want to focus on out game this weekend, but we perform and how we cap off the campaign.

“We want to play for each other and out teammates.

“We’re definitely fighting for the pride of our jersey and I know the Cheetahs are going to well prepared for us this weekend.”

Saturday afternoon’s big derby between the Cheetahs and Griquas at the Toyota Stadium kicks off at 14:00.
