The match is expected to be the side's last match in the competition this year, with the team still having a very slim, however, very unlikely chance of playing in the playoffs.

Roberts, who early this year became the most capped Griquas player of all time, is set to announce his retirement from the sport for following the match.

It’s very fitting that Roberts’ swansong will be during the fierce derby and also against the team where his career started.

While under a lot of pressure this week with injuries, the Griquas coach, Peter Engeldow, confirmed that Roberts will be hanging up his boots and that the team will make it a special occasion for the stalwart.

The team's captain, AJ Coertzen, told OFM Sport that while there is still a chance for making the playoffs there is a lot of pride at stake.

“It’s a huge game for us this weekend against the Cheetahs,” said Coertzen about the derby against his former team.

“Mathematically there is still a chance for us to make the semi-final but we don’t want to rely on other teams' results.

“We just want to focus on our game this weekend, on how we perform and how we cap off the campaign.

“We want to play for each other and our teammates.

“We’re definitely fighting for the pride of our jersey and I know the Cheetahs are going to be well-prepared for us this weekend.”

The Cheetahs, in their turn, are expected to make a few injury-enforced changes for the match.

The Cheetahs have already secured a home semi-final and Franco Smith may opt not to risk 50/50 players.

Tier Schoeman could be rested after sustaining an ankle injury against the Pumas last week with Tienie Burger starting at flank.

The hooker Torsten van Jaarsveld could start in the front-row after recovering from his rib injury which saw him missing out a week ago.

Raymond Rhule could also be making a return to the starting XV with Sergeal Petersen battling with a calf niggle this week.

Franco Smith will be announcing his side for the match at noon.

Saturday’s derby at the Toyota Stadium kicks off at 14:00.
