A special conditioning indaba will be hosted in December to address the way forward for South African rugby players.

Last week a coaching indaba was held in Cape Town and the word from various role-players is that it was important and on top of that it was a huge success.

Condition is a concern in South African rugby, however, the task is made all the more difficult with many players plying their trade overseas.

The Springboks are departing for Europe on Friday evening and condition has come under the spotlight.

The Springboks’ coach, Allister Coetzee, confirmed that it’s in the process of being addressed and it is important to find the right solution.

“The conditioning thing will really be addressed at a separate indaba in December.

“We had to start with the technical issues first.

“The Lions might not have an aerobic problem, the Stormers might not have a strength problem.

“The question of what the common problem is will come out.

“Looking at these technical aspects such as scrummaging, which we want to keep the same, how we condition posture strength and these kinds of things will be addressed.

“I’m positive that if there is as little as 10% collaboration we will be better off next year.”

The Springboks fly to England on Friday and will play a match against the Barbarians as well as Tests against England, Italy and Wales.
