The Stormers fullback and Springbok Sevens player, Cheslin Kolbe, has become the most recent player to sign a contract win an overseas club.

The French Top 14 club, Toulouse, has confirmed that the exciting player will be linking up with them at the end of the season.

The Cape-based Super Rugby franchise, the Stormers, in their turn has confirmed that Kolbe is contracted with them until the end of the 2017 competition and will be available throughout the tournament.

Kolbe is the third South African on the 19-time French champions’ books, with the two props Gurthrö Steenkamp and Maks van Dyk plying their trade in Toulouse.

Both Steenkamp and Van Dyk have previously played for the Cheetahs, with Steenkamp having represented the Springboks in 53 Tests.

Kolbe has been in the Springbok mix, however, has only represented South Africa at age group level and in Sevens.

He was part of the Blitzboks squad which won bronze at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Kolbe is the cousin of the 400m World and Olympics champion, Wayde van Niekerk. During the Summer Games in Rio, Van Niekerk broke Michael Johnson's world record to win the 400m gold.
