Mamelodi Sundowns - Kickoff

The Premier Soccer League leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns, will be looking to clinch the league on Wednesday evening when they face the University of Pretoria Tuks in the Tshwane derby.

Pitso Mosimane’s side are still flying high after hammering Kaizer Chiefs 3-1 over the weekend, while AmaTuks are still licking their wounds following a 1-0 defeat to Jomo Cosmos.

Despite Tuks losing to the Ezenkosi, the Brazilians assistant coach, Rhulani Mokoena, told OFM Sport that tonight’s clash will be tricky.

“They are direct and play a lot of percentage football and they get into the opponents half very quickly.

“It’s important for us to try and neutralise the first ball and try and press them from the top and try stop the first ball from coming.

“Once you do that you’ve also got to try and compete for the second ball.

“Those are the things we will look at and try and work with for the game.

With Wits playing to a 2-2 draw against the Mpumalanga Black Aces on Tuesday night, a win for Downs this evening will ensure them of their seventh league title since the inception of the PSL.

Mokoena is of the view that they will settle for nothing less than a full house of points this evening.

“It’s not done yet, it’s stable but we are working towards winning the league.

“We have to focus on winning our next game and getting points.

“The team is looking strong, the team is focussed, and the team wants to win things and is ambitious. That’s the most important thing, so we’ll just keep working to try and solve things to achieve our goals and objectives.”

Wednesday evening’s match at the Tuks Stadium kicks off at 19:30, while at the same time the Amakhosi face Bloemfontein Celtic in Soweto.
