The hosts France will be facing Portugal in Sunday evening’s final at Euro 2016.

This after Les Blues beat the world champions, Germany, 2-0 in Thursday night’s second semi-final which was played at the Stade Velodrome in Marseille.

Antoine Griezmann opened the scoring for the home side with a 47th-minute penalty and in the 72nd minute he tapped in to score his brace.

The 25-year-old Griezmann said he had to back his abilities in a big match.

“I had another chance to take a penalty in a big game. I managed to keep my cool. I didn't doubt myself and I managed to score.

The player was compared to what Michel Platini was to France's successful Euro 1984 campaign on home soil, however, he has played down the comparison.

“I'm happy with the goals but I'm still a long way off Platini's level. I hope one day to get close to his standard.”

Portugal booked their spot in the final after beating Wales 2-0 during Wednesday’s first semi-final thanks to goals by Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani.

Sunday evening’s final at the Stade de France in Paris kicks off at 21:00.
