The attacking Bloemfontein Celtic midfielder, Thapelo Morena, has denied that he has signed any contract extension with the club.

This comes less than a week after the club announced that the Bafana Bafana player will be staying at Celtic for the next three years.

Morena has been linked with a move to the defending Premier Soccer League champions, Mamelodi Sundowns, or the Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs.

Last week, Sello Nduna, of Celtic told OFM Sport that they had penned a three-year deal with Morena and that he will be a very important part of their arsenal this season.

“It’s obviously good news for us, it’s actually an improvement on his contract to make sure he stays here in Bloemfontein.

“Our intention as a team is to be able to compete, but at the same time retain our best players and this will ensure we have a competitive squad.”

Morena is currently with the South African U23 team as they prepared to jet out to Rio de Janeiro to compete in next month’s Olympics Games.
