Rabada has been nominated for no less than five awards and that normally is a strong indication of who will win the big one, the South African Cricketer of the Year Award.

The 21-year-old strike bowler has been nominated in this category and should he win he will become the youngest ever recipient of this coveted award.

He has also been nominated for the South African Test Cricketer of the Year Award, the South African ODI Cricketer of the Year Award, as well as for the Delivery of the Year Award.

Rababa will, however, have stiff competition with the two previous year’s winners, AB de Villiers and Hashim Amla, also in the running for the Cricketer of the Year and Test Cricketer of the Year awards.

The wicketkeeper, Quinton de Kock, and spinner, Imran Tahir, are also in the running for the Cricketer of the Year Award, while Temba Bavuma is in contention for the Test Cricketer of the Year Award.

This evening’s awards banquet will take place at the Sandton Convention Centre.
