Clinton Larsen - Kickoff

Clinton Larsen’s Golden Arrows shot to third in the Premier Soccer League standings following their 1-0 win over Free State Stars last night.

The match in Bethlehem was heading to a goalless draw before Lehlohonolo Nonyane found the back of the net in the 90th minute of the match to hand the visitors a 1-0 win.

It’s Arrows second win in their first three rounds of the league after beating Cape Town City FC 2-0 a week after the side from the Mother City’s first ever defeat.

Arrows will be in action again this weekend when they face Bloemfontein Celtic on Sunday afternoon at the Dr Petrus Molemela Stadium.

Meanwhile, the Soweto giants, Kaizer Chiefs, earned their first win of the season last night when they beat the newly promoted Highlands Park 1-0 in Tembisa thanks to a 64th-minute penalty via the boot of George Lebese.

In Pietermaritzburg, Thuso Phala scored 42nd minute goal for SuperSport United for a 1-0 win over Ernst Middendorp’s Maritzburg United, being an end to the Team of Choice’s impressive run.

It’s Maritzburg first defeat this season and it’s been a remarkable turnout by the team after just avoiding relegation last season.
