Pressure on Letsoaka | News Article
Serame Letsoaka - Morgan Piek

The pressure is on the Bloemfontein Celtic coach, Serame Letsoaka, to reverse the team’s fortunes following a poor start to the season.

Phunya Sele Sele are currently lying right at the bottom of the Premier Soccer League following losses to Maritzburg United and Golden Arrows, as well as a goalless draw against the Free State Stars.

Celtic has scored just one goal the entire season and this came in the 49th minute of their 2-1 defeat to Arrows yesterday when Alfred Ndungane found the back of the net.

The former Polokwane City coach, Kosta Papic, who is now plying his trade at the National First Division side, Royal Eagles, is said to be linked with the Celtic coaching role.

Following yesterday’s defeat to Arrows, Celtic’s coach Serame Letsoaka said that desperation to get results leads to poor decision making.

"I think we could have wrapped up the game in the first half, and in the second half that could have happened.

"But immediately after conceding the second goal we didn't have enough width.

"They were compact in the central area and we still tried to go through the centre.

"One other area that we lacked today was shooting from outside the box when we had chances to do so, but the boys could not do that.

"But the pressure of having to get the equaliser, you know with the players, it will always be a question of making sure that their desparation and they become too desperate.

"There was also some poor decision making [in the final third] because we were desperate."

Celtic next face Kaizer Chiefs in the Macufe Cup on 9 October, before their next league game against Platinum Stars a week later.
