Family Is Nervous Foster Child Won’t Adjust, But Then He Meets Their Dog!

Most foster parents will tell you that the job of fostering children is hard but rewarding. Kari Lewis, a young foster mom living in Portland, OR, explains, “foster care has been one of the hardest but absolute best things that we’ve ever done.”

Any time a family brings a new foster child into the home, they worry the child will have a hard time adjusting, opening up, and getting comfortable in the new environment. Kari’s mother, Sandi Swiridoff, even feels some challenges as a foster grandmother to the children her daughter brings into their homes.

So a few years ago, to have something more permanent in her life that she could love, Sandi adopted Reagan, an Australian Labradoodle. When Reagan was 11 months old, Kari brought Buddy, an 11-month-old boy, into her home.

Buddy has been in Kari’s care since then. He and Reagan will both turn 3 in February 2017.

And ever since Buddy joined the family, the two have become inseparable. Now Buddy and Reagan do everything together — and share their happiness with the world.

The two dress up together, read together, and spend a lot of time snuggling.

And it’s clear from their pictures that they truly love each other.
