Doha - South African international relations minister, Maite Nkoana-Mashabane's interview with Al Jazeera may be the most bizarre thing you will see this week.

Speaking to former South African, Jane Dutton, Nkoana-Mashabane managed to sidestep almost every question about the current crises facing the country.

Right off the bat, it was clear that this interview wasn't going to be easy for Dutton, when Nkoana-Mashabane responded to her question about the recent brawls in parliament with an anecdote about carrying water on her head, which led to her having a "hole in the head".

Among the other strange answers was that Trevor Manuel was appointed because of the colour of his skin, and that the president has the right to appoint or fire ministers, whether they are doing a good job or not. The latter came in response to a question about the firing of Nhlanhla Nene, which led to the currency shedding R500 billion in value, following this axing.
