Havana - Cuban leader Raul Castro has called on Cubans to continue building socialism on the island nation, ensuring the country’s independence after the death of longtime revolutionary leader Fidel Castro.
The president spoke at a mass memorial service dedicated to his deceased brother who led Cuba between the revolution of 1959 and 2008.
A funeral procession with the urn containing Castro’s ashes arrived in Santiago de Cuba earlier in the day.
The former leader passed away on November 25 at the age of 90.
The funeral ceremony takes place this morning.
