Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's wife is seeking a divorce after 19 years of marriage. Veronica Lario has hired a divorce lawyer to begin the process of legal separation. She told La Stampa newspaper she was forced to take this step as she didn't know what else to do. The Prime Minister's office has so far refused to comment on the matter. Last week his wife voiced her outrage over reports that her husband's party was lining up TV showgirls as possible candidates for the European Parliament elections next month. Veronica, a 52-year-old former actress, slammed the process as "shamelessly trashy". She was also enraged by reports that the premier had attended the birthday party of an 18-year-old woman in Naples. 72-year-old Berlusconi has publicly been in hot water with his wife on several occasions over his apparent love for beautiful women.
