Place of Birth:
A place where students never sleep, Aardklop finds itself every year and once you are here you never want to leave… it can only be Potchefstroom.
Education:
I completed my degree in BCom Communication management in 2007 but my passion for people drove me to switch my focus to the human aspect of communication and so in 2008 I completed my Honours degree in Development communication. I am now refining my skills and will be completing a Masters degree in Sustainable Development at the North-West University Potchefstroom Campus by the end of 2010. (Big sigh of relief!)
Family life:
My family has been living in Richards Bay on the North Coast for the last 20 years. My parents Willem and Elda gave me all the opportunities a girl could wish for and support me in everything I do. I have one sister, Liesl and she is my best friend, fashion adviser and biggest critic. Spending a day with my family will be filled with endless laughter, lots of red wine and a welcoming spirit no matter who you are.
Relationships:
In general I get along with all types of people and respect the diversity of our country. Being a people’s person may be my curse but I find it fascinating discovering how similar we all are even if we are different. On a more romantic note… my personal life may be confidential but all I will give away is that this Afrikaans guy sure understands how this crazy English girl ticks….x x x
Fashion Style:
Always in high heels, love my jeans and bright pink handbag. The only bad thing is, I never know what to wear so I always end up with a mountain of clothes on my bed and wear the outfit I picked first! I will always wear something that expresses myself, it might not be the hottest thing in fashion right now, but I believe you can make an outfit work for you.
Interests:
Give me a good book, the beach and couple of cocktails and I’m in a happy place. Besides my love of music and people, I love being outdoors with my two Border Collies: Hunter and Lucy.
Career:
I have been working for the African Centre for Disaster Studies for over a year now and through the centre I have been living out my passion of making a difference. I have had the opportunity to touch the lives of 60 disadvantaged girls through the GIRRL project. (Girls In Risk Reduction Leadership)
Expectations from OFM:
Only that I may be given freedom to find myself, opportunities to express my opinions and to grow into the best presenter I can be for OFM.
Motto:
In life you can do something, you can do nothing or you can just let it go!!!! |
