Majozi's new release 'Waiting' | News Article

The wait is finally over and today, 18 May 2018 sees the release of brand new material by MAJOZI.

MAJOZI shot to fame in 2015 with the release of his single ‘Fire’, which was a major pop radio hit and his feel-good follow up single, Darling, which endeared MAJOZI to the hearts of his loyal fans nationwide. His debut SAMA nominated album Fire (which includes the #1 single Breathing as well as the hit collaboration with Tresor, The Woods.) was released in 2016 and ever since then, fans has been waiting patiently for new music from this Durbanite who is known to wear his heart on his sleeve.

“I really wanted to make sure this was the best music I've ever made, so I was never in a rush really, but I'm excited to be back and releasing new stuff now!” says MAJOZI.

The new release features a brand new radio single entitled WAITING, as well as a second song, Darling Pt. 2. Both songs were written around two years ago, but changed a lot over the years. For WAITING, MAJOZI was really inspired by Daft Punk and originally the song focused on finding hope in the face of feelings of inadequacy. Later MAJOZI got together with Brad Klynsmith (Gangs of Ballet) and evolved the song into a solid story dealing with relationships and love.

“I have always wanted to write a follow up to ‘Darling’, hence ‘Darling Pt. 2’ came to life. I also wanted to write a love song as good as Ed Sheeran without actually being in love, just to see if it was possible. It’s not.” laughs MAJOZI.

MAJOZI decided on a two-song-release because his music is heading in a new direction sonically than what fans have previous heard from him, and he wanted to ease them into it, bring them along on the journey and bridge the gap between the old and the new.

“I am ecstatic to finally release new songs and I really can’t wait for people to hear them; it’s been a while! The new songs still feature heart and vulnerability like my previous work, and anyone who is still figuring out life and love - which is pretty much everyone - will be able to identify with them.”
