#BreakingNews: Fatal glider accident reported in FS─── CATHY DLODLO 16:31 Mon, 19 Nov 2018
The South African Civil Aviation Authority confirmed a fatal glider accident near Gariep Dam earlier today.
OFM News spoke to provincial police spokesperson, Yanda Ngcukana, on the scene. He said the police were informed about the accident just after noon today. Ngcukana said one person was fatally injured in the accident.
Spokesperson for the SA Civil Aviation Authority, Kabelo Ledwaba, says an incident investigation team is going to investigate the accident. He said early reports indicated that the paraglider took off from Gariep Dam and was expected to come back to his departure point. He confirmed that the person who was fatally injured was, in fact, the pilot. Ngcukana says the police is also going to open an inquest docket.
