Malema is expected to engage residents in the province over a two-day period moving from one place to the other. His visit to the towns of Bloemhof and Taung comes just weeks after residents went up in arms over a lack of water and other municipal services. They took their frustrations to the streets to express their dissatisfaction with municipalities they allege fail to put the needs of residents first.

Four municipalities in this province have in the past months made headlines over their failure to provide services and their investment in the now liquidated VBS Mutual Bank. The Madibeng, Mahikeng, and Moretele Local Municipalities, as well as the Dr Ruth Segomotsi Mompati District Municipality, have overall invested more than R300 million in the bank. During his two-day door-to-door campaign, Malema is expected to touch on the plight faced by residents in the province.
