Voting in the North West is off to a slow start with some voting stations opening after 07:00 am.

OFM News correspondent Olefile Vilakazi says voting at the Rotary Pre-school in the Mahikeng Local Municipality’s Ward 32 opened late. According to a resident in this area, IEC officials arrived at around 07:30 and told them they will be ready from just before 08:00 to allow the voters lining up outside in.

Meanwhile voting at Batswana High school in the Mahikeng township of Montshiwa is now in full swing. There is a long line of residents ready to cast their vote despite the cold conditions. Police have also arrived on the scene to monitor the situation as was promised by the National Police Commissioner, Khehla Sitole.

In Lichtenburg most of the voting stations have opened in time, voters have not yet come in their numbers due to cold weather conditions.
