The elderly and the sick brave the cold and cloudy weather in Montshioa in Mahikeng to cast their vote in a declared hotspot in North West.

An 89-year-old elderly woman, who asked to be referred to as Ouma Joy from Montshioa, says she came earlier in the week to cast her special vote but was informed that she had not registered and had to return back home.

She, however, says she felt compelled to come and cast her vote today as it is her democratic right.

Meanwhile, the 80-year-old Elisa Mashishi says despite her feeling dizzy and sometimes running out the breath, she felt a need to wake and up from her bed and come cast her vote.

She tells OFM News that for her the decision to vote or not does not really make any difference in her life because they have been promised quite a lot of things but these are yet to be delivered.

Meanwhile, voting is underway in Jouberton at Klerksdorp with scores of voters streaming to the various voting stations in that area.

Ward 12 residents, like the rest of the residents in the province, have braced the cold weather to go and cast their votes.

Earlier the town featured in news bulletins for all the wrong reasons when they destroyed property and looted shops owned by foreign nationals in protest of service delivery.
