The IEC in the Free State says a tent which was reportedly stolen in Ward 35 in Maluti-A-Phofung has been replaced and voting continues.
The IEC’s Mmabatho Rasengane also confirms that some voting stations in this region opened late due to rainy weather conditions. She, however, says all is now running smoothly in this region and they are anticipating no further problems.
She confirmed that a voting station in Ward 47 of Bloemfontein opened later than 7am due to the late delivery of ballot papers. She has indicated that all ballot papers have thus far reached all voting stations and she is expecting elections to proceed well.
Despite the slow voter turnout that was experienced in the morning, Rasengane confirms that voters are slowly coming out to brave the cold weather conditions and make it to the polls.
