#Covid19: FS premier confident about reaching herd immunity─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 09:02 Fri, 15 Oct 2021
The Free State premier Sisi Ntombela says she is confident that the province will reach their targeted number of Covid-19 vaccinations in an attempt to acquire herd immunity.
This follows her statement on Thursday at the Maluti-a-Phofung Local Municipality, at the Phuthaditjhaba Multipurpose Centre. Ntombela was joined by the MEC for Health, Montseng Tsiu, and other stakeholders such as traditional leaders, and representatives of people living with disabilities, amongst others, where they held a successful Vooma Vaccination Campaign. Ntombela called on more people in the Free State to get their vaccinations and reiterated that the vaccine saves lives.
“We are encouraged by the overwhelming response the campaign received from various stakeholder organisations and their constituencies. The unity demonstrated by all roleplayers, in calling for increased numbers to vaccinate, is a clear indication of the power of cooperation between the government and the people,” said Ntombela.
Meanwhile, OFM News had reported that more than half of the targeted 1,9 million adults in the Free State province have at least had their first vaccination. The Free State Health spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi, also told OFM News that the Vooma Vaccination Campaign has boosted the underperforming districts such as Thabo Mofutsanyane.
