The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) in the Northern Cape says it hasn't yet received any results from the Frances Baard District Municipality, which includes the Kimberley-based Sol Plaatje Local Municipality.

The IEC spokesperson, Wildebees Maruping, says no update has been provided to the commission thus far. This is despite the commission having counted over 150 000 votes across the province so far.

Maruping also indicated that of the 26 municipalities, only 7 have been counted. Maruping says he hopes that at the end of the day they would have completed the counting in the province.

The IEC expects to complete the counting of Local Government Election votes by Tuesday. At 09:30, the ANC in the Northern Cape is leading with over 45% of the votes counted, the DA has 24%, and the EFF has 8% support. Over 70 seats in three councils have already been allocated with over 150 000 votes that have been counted. As much as 70% of the votes were expected to be declared by 09:00, whilst 90% of the votes were expected to be declared by 14:00 in the afternoon. The IEC on Monday said by 14:00 there was a voter turnout of 24%, whilst at 17:00 28% was recorded.
