NC set to complete #Elections2021 vote count first | News Article

The Northern Cape looks set to become the first province in the country to complete their 2021 Local Government Election vote-counting.

This as the vote-counting here is now 88% completed, and only four councils out of 26 in the province are yet to be calculated.

The ruling ANC has managed to retain their previously controlled wards and is in the lead in municipalities such as the Kimberley-based Sol Plaatje Local Municipality - with 49% of the support base.

OFM News previously reported that the ANC won all of the three other municipalities that have completed the counting of votes in the hotly contested Frances Baard District Municipality, which includes Sol Plaatje.

The ANC Provincial Executive Committee in the Northern Cape denied earlier projection done by the market-research company Ipsos and analysts, that its support base would drop down to at least 30% to 40% during the 2021 municipal elections.

The Provincial Secretary, Deshi Ngxanga, said the analysis done by many analysts on the decline of the party in many municipalities lacks fundamental scientific reflection.
