Cluster to brief public on #Election2019 security matters | News Article

The Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Cluster (JCPS), which includes key security agencies like the police and varied government departments, will brief the country on security issues that came up during the 2019 General Elections on Monday.

The briefing, which will be held in Pretoria, will address some of the unrest that flared up in identified hotspots and the number of personnel that had to be deployed to those areas.

On Tuesday, the National Police Commissioner, Khehla Sitole, was in Mahikeng, North West, visiting some of the province's identified hotspots. Police Minister Bheki Cele earlier flagged North West and KwaZulu-Natal as high-risk areas, a week prior to Sitole’s visit.

Some of the matters that are expected to be addressed in the briefing is the arrest of twenty people who allegedly voted multiple times in KwaZulu-Natal as well as the unrest that flared up in the North West town of Ganyesa and the village of Dithakong.
