DAFF and stake holders progressing in the fight against Limpopo foot-and-mouth outbreak─── CHRISTAL-LIZE MULLER 05:24 Wed, 06 Feb 2019
The Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAFF), says its quarantine status in Limpopo is in full operation and functioning well. No cloven-hoofed animals are allowed to move within, into or out of the foot-and-mouth disease management
The vaccination of cattle that commenced on 14 January this year, starting with cattle in the affected villages and in the 20km radius around the villages, are also affective. A total number of over 10 000 cattle have been vaccinated. Animals affected by the outbreak are cattle kept in rural villages which are in close proximity - within a 20 kilometre radius.
This formed part of an update given by DAFF and stake holders in the red meat industry during a media information session held in Pretoria on Monday.
