#Nampo2019 Water – a critical commodity, action needed─── DANE BEISHEIM 06:46 Tue, 21 May 2019
Water is a critical economic enabler that is in crisis in South Africa for different reasons.
It is generally agreed upon that water is a national priority where a thriving economy, as envisioned by the National Development Plan, will ensure dignity and hope for all South African. Mike Sutcliffe, director of the company City Insight says the reality is that by 2030 the cubic meter deficit will be at 3 500 million cubic meter per annum.
This boils down to the water that South Africa will not have available if some drastic interventions are not put into place. He says City Insight and other high level role players have already intervened for this purpose.
OFM News’ Dane Beisheim spoke to Sutcliffe who was part of the Nation in Conversation platform at Grain SA’s Nampo Harvest week touching on the water crisis in the country.
