SA not to get too excited over 2.5% GDP growth - economist | News Article
Dawie Roodt

An economist, Dawie Roodt, says although the South African economy is out of its technical recession due to the slight GDP growth in the second quarter of this year, South Africans should not get too excited.

He says the 2.5% growth indicates that the economy is getting a little bigger and for the year in total South Africa will probably see an economic growth of about half a percent, which is still not good enough. Roodt says although there might be a slight decrease in unemployment and more investment in the country, he warns South Africans not to be too excited about these numbers. He says more still needs to be done to grow the economy.

The GDP for the primary sector grew by 10,3%, Agriculture by 33,6% while mining grew by 3,9%.
