The trio is facing charges of murder for allegedly attacking Witbooi with stones after a fight broke out at Blinkklip Secondary School, last week. 

It is alleged the incident occurred after an altercation ensued between the pupils. Police Spokesperson, Olebogeng Tawana, told OFM News the trio was arrested following the attack and Witbooi was transported to the hospital for medical treatment, where he, unfortunately, succumbed to his injuries.

He says investigations into the case continues.

The court appearance comes at the time when a Grade 10 learner from a Secondary School in Koffiefontein in the Free State is also appearing in court for allegedly stabbing a fellow classmate to death with a screwdriver three days ago. 

The murder of Witbooi came as the country was still reeling from a fatal stabbing incident at a school in the Vaal, where a Grade 9 pupil at the Thuto-Tiro Comprehensive School was stabbed with a pair of scissors by a fellow 15-year-old pupil.
