Four suspects arrested for allegedly trying to sell lion paws are expected to apply for bail at the Rustenburg Magistrate's Court in the North West on Tuesday.
They were arrested last Monday in a joint operation by the Hawks and the Crime Intelligence in Rustenburg. The suspects are facing charges of contravening the National Environment Management-Biodiversity Act.
Their arrest follows investigations conducted and which resulted in a sting operation, where they tried to sell the paws to an undercover agent for R300 000.
Meanwhile, another one person arrested at Tshidilamolomo for allegedly being found in possession of lion bones is also expected to apply for bail on Wednesday at the Mmabatho Magistrate's Court.
Andrew Mompe was arrested at Dingateng village for allegedly being in possession of lion meat and bones, which they slaughtered at Botswana.
