A suspect accused of raping two victims in Extension 39, Mmabatho, in the North West, has received eight life imprisonment sentences at the Mmabatho Regional Court on Wednesday 22 January 2020.
The matter occurred in May 2012 when the accused reportedly broke into the house of the complainants, two ladies, who he then raped repeatedly. One of the victims managed to flee the scene and alerted members of the community.
According to police spokesperson Sam Tselanyane, the court sentenced the 39-year-old Bophelo Macdonald Tshemego to eight life imprisonments on eight counts of rape. The court also allowed the complainants the right to make a representation when the offender applies for parole in future.
