#ChildTragedies: 19 school pupils injured as taxi overturns in Vanderbijlpark─── LUCKY NKUYANE 09:35 Wed, 29 Jan 2020
Nineteen school pupils are receiving medical attention following an accident involving a minibus taxi on Faraday Road in Vanderbijlpark in Gauteng this morning.
The ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, says a taxi transporting pupils overturned, injuring many. He says the driver of the taxi also suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for further assessment. Meiring says the taxi was found lying on its side around 07h22 in the centre median and several children were found seated on the median being attended to by the community before being sent to Johan Heyns and Mediclinic Emfuleni Hospitals for further care.
“Medics assessed the children, aged between 7 and 12, and found that they had sustained minor to moderate injuries. The children were treated and thereafter transported to Johan Heyns and Mediclinic Emfuleni Hospitals for further care,” he says. Meiring says the details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
