NC Hawks nab 63-year-old man─── MARVIN NTSANE 10:21 Wed, 04 Mar 2020
The Northern Cape Hawks have summoned a 63-year-old man for alleged fraud of R1.5 million in Barkly West yesterday.
It is alleged he acquired the amount for his benefit by misrepresenting himself to the Department of Minerals and Energy.
Hawks spokesperson, Nomthandazo Mnisi, says he claimed that Vaalbos Community Trust gave him the authority to enter into an agreement on their behalf.
The agreement was for the sole rights to conduct prospecting activities and mining at Drooge Veldt.
Mnisi further says during the Hawks’ investigation in 2009, it was discovered he lied in an affidavit about a car which was involved in an accident and said he was not driving it when the accident occurred.
He will be expected to appear before the Kimberley Magistrate's Court on 31 March 2020 for fraud, corruption and perjury.
