#Coronavirus: NW intensifies efforts against #Covid19 | News Article

The North West Department of Health is intensifying its efforts to combat the spread of the coronavirus (Covid-19).

This, as MEC Madoda Sambatha has embarked on an inspection to two mine hospitals in Matlosana that are to be used as overflow facilities should the  Klerksdorp Hospital be overwhelmed.

The Klerksdorp Hospital is a designated Covid-19 facility in the province. Whilst the latest figures released by Health Minister Zweli Mkhize indicates that the number of positive cases in the country has increased to 1 585 and is expected to rise, the North West provincial government has identified several hotels and guest houses to be used for mandatory quarantine.

The province says it has noted a number of challenges with self-quarantine and in efforts to curb the spread of the virus they will be making use of private facilities to help those who have tested positive and can't self-isolate.

Sambatha has meanwhile vowed to ensure that health services in the province are not compromised. The number of positive cases in the province now stands at 11.
